Poznan city sightseeing - 14.05. or 17.05.03 (3 hours)

The Cathedral - topped with two towers and surrounded by numerous chapels, devastated during the war, was restored in Gothic style. The most important and most famous chapel is the Royal, or Golden Chapel - mausoleum of the first Polish sovereigns - Mieszko I and Boleslaw Chrobry.
The Old Market Square with The Town Hall - constructed at the beginning of the 14th century received its present shape after the great fire of Poznan in 1536. Today, The Town Hall houses the Museum of the history of Poznan.
The Parish Church - built 1651-1735 is the most impressive example of the Roman Baroque in Poznan. In the church- impressive organ.
The Royal Castle - erected in the middle of the 13th century at the top of the hill by Prince Przemysl I. Later it became the Polish monarchs' residence during their visits to Poznan. Today it houses the Museum of Applied Arts.
The Raczynski Library - the beautiful, classical colonnade resembling the eastern façade of the Louvre belongs to one of Poland's oldest public libraries, which was founded in 1829 by Count Edward Raczynski, the famous patron of arts.

Gniezno - the first capital of Poland. The kings of Poland were crowned at Gniezno until 1320. The city has many medieval art objects. Its most notable building is 14th-century Gothic cathedral with the relics of Saint Wojciech.
The Museum of Apiculture in Swarzedz - home to a unique collection of some 200 bee-hives crafted from a variety of objects. Occasion to taste polish speciality - mead.
The Museum of Miniatures in Pobiedziska - collection of miniatures of the famous buildings in Great Poland.

Kórnik-Rogalin 16.05.2003 (6 hours)
Castle in Kórnik - Originally a knight's stronghold erected on an isle surrounded by a moat, it was founded in the early 16th century by the Gorka family. Several times remodelled, the castle received its final appearance in the shape of romantic Gothic. Houses magnificent collection of furniture, paintings, militaries and national memorabilia. The park that surrounds the castle functions as a scientific research station for the Polish Academy of Sciences' Dendrological Institute.
Castle in Rogalin - the residence of the famous Raczynskis family, built in 18th century in Baroque-Classical style. The palace was erected for Kazimierz Raczynski, the future Crown Marshal, in the years 1768-1773. Rich collection of furniture, works of art, European and Polish paintings from 19th and 20th century. It is surrounded by a large park with famous, several hundred years old Rogalin oaks. Three of them- Lech, Czech and Rus are named after three legendary Slavic brothers.
